The FANANGA Literacy Project began in 2019 in partnership with the Oakland Unified School District (OUSD) to combat the literacy challenges we face as a Pacific Islander community. With the recent disaggregation of data, it is clear that Pacific Islander students perform at a lower standard than many of their peers.
Today we continue to do all we can to improve the data to support all Pacific Islander students in Oakland. As Pacific Islanders and OUSD alumni, we are excited to continue the work across Oakland elementary schools.
